Women in Dev is a women-led, women-focused international development conference that Global Office is organising to be held at County Hall, London, on March 5, 2020. We will be bringing together women from across the development arena to provide a platform for women-led conversations around some of the most significant challenges of our time, fostering an inclusive atmosphere in which to learn, grow and inspire. Women in Dev aims to harness the power of collective knowledge and passion to ignite solutions-based conversations around pressing concerns.


Location: Based in Central London


Salary: £3,000 for a six week full-time contract


Start Date: Immediate



We are looking for a passionate and conscientious digital media and communications officer to help us deliver our conference programme. You will be responsible for producing social media posts, press releases, drafting op-eds and producing both web and print based communications. This is a six-week opportunity that has the potential to lead to a permanent post.





  • Create engaging and high-quality content for all Global Office digital platforms (social media, website and newsletter).

  • Develop and optimise digital and social media outputs, including text, images, video and audio to reach wide-ranging target audiences, including as part of larger campaigns which require coordination with other teams in the organisation.

  • Manage our social media daily and proactively create content on a daily basis.

  • Monitor social media channels and respond to day to day queries.

  • Produce photography and video to support the delivery of communications and marketing campaigns.

  • Assist with and record media enquiries and their outcomes.

  • Draft op-eds proactively reach out to media, pitching news stories.

  • Build strong relationships with journalists and other media platforms.




Knowledge and experience


  • Previous working experience in digital media and communications.

  • Experience developing highly effective digital media content.

  • Previous experience in website management.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, among others are desirable.

  • Particular experience of writing for the web and other digital channels.

  • Previous experience of writing press releases and op-eds.
